Our methodology on a golf course project:

We execute golf course projects the old-fashioned way. We design them from the site itself, with the natural land and not against it. We bring the natural topography and vegetation into the design of the golf links rather than imposing golf course features into the natural topography. Design and contruction are performed with tremendous passion and pride; we take the plans from the design studio to the construction field just like the original forefathers of golf course architecture did over a hundred years ago. We do the right thing for the finished golf course on every project. Great golf course design takes tremendous thought, analysis, and time; the construction effort dutifully equal. The natural topography and vegetation is used as much as possible with minimal site grading. Earth is the greatest golf course architect and we are just trying to find the golf holes that are already on site. Initially we intensely evaluate and analyze the land during the routing plan phase in order to get to know the natural environment and site conditions as quickly as possible.

We are on site for every project on a daily basis and prefer to live on or adjacent to the site. Plans are important but they are just the first phase of a golf course project. Golf course design details such as greens contouring, bunker construction, fairway shaping, and tee box locations evolve and are finalized during the construction process.

Once the golf course project is ready for construction, John Mellett or his designee will be on site participating in the construction of greens, bunkers, and other features creating artisitic, natural, unique, and bold golf course features.
